NetIQ builds on the popular employee Internet management solution, NetIQ WebMarshal, with the addition of flexible end-user quota management tools. This new enhancement and others driven by customer and partner input simplifies the administration of this powerful product.
Major Enhancements
Improved quota management capabilities. Makes controlling access to the web by quota easier with two new wizards:
Quota Wizard provides a step-by-step process for creating flexible time and bandwidth quotas. Quotas are implemented as a daily or weekly allocation, with timing from midnight to midnight.
Quota Rule Wizard allows individual or combined quotas to be applied to users, user groups, workstations or groups of workstations. A quota rule may be extended to allow metered or off-the-meter access to specific URL categories or specific file type transfers. The rule can be further tuned with a time-of-day qualifier.
NetIQ WebMarshal now combines quotas in a quota rule, offering maximum versatility. For example, your sales team can now have unlimited access to corporate web sites while restricting non-business web browsing during business hours. You can also place a limit on bandwidth consumption while allowing off-the-meter transfers of Word documents.
Installation option for Microsoft ISA Server in SecureNAT Mode. Use of this installation option enables you to deploy NetIQ WebMarshal without making client browser changes. Microsoft ISA ServerNAT provides transparent proxy services for your network clients. SecureNAT mode does not require you to install extra software on the SecureNAT client or to reconfigure the client browser.
Additional Enhancements
Support for additional DLL virus scanners. NetIQ WebMarshal now supports Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine and Panda Antivirus. Support for these scanners is in addition to the existing support for Sophos Anti-Virus, Norman Virus Control and NetIQ Integrated McAfee AntiVirus.
Event log browsing within the NetIQ WebMarshal console. Administrators can now browse filtered operating system event logs within the NetIQ WebMarshal Console.
